Elaine Kay

Growing up in rural Midwest, Elaine lived on a small farm with huge garden, some cows and corn fields. Produce and meat went into the freezer each summer. 4-H projects were a favorite, livestock, wildlife, cooking, baking, sewing, canning and 4-H camp along with concert band, marching band, dance band, ensemble and band camp near Fort Knox.

After college, teaching mathematics, physical education and coaching consumed her life along with real estate and an auctioneering business.

As an early teen, she talked with God daily yet didn’t really experience God.   It felt like her prayers stopped at the ceiling. She attended church one year, age 13, and saw the glorious presence of God in her Sunday School teacher and state policeman husband.  At age 19, she attended church, wanted to ‘be saved,’ but it took three weeks to get the courage to ‘go forward’ down that very long aisle to the front.   So she doubted her  salvation and lost touch with God and church in her twenties.

Alas, at age 30, she asked God to get her back to church.  Her daughter was age eight and she had always thought she’d raise her daughter in church.  The grandmother took her daughter every other weekend but Elaine didn’t go.   Then came the invitation to Girl Scout Sunday.  It was a divine appointment and from that March until June, Elaine was a regular every service.  She awoke that June Sunday morning full of the joy of her salvation and couldn’t wait until the altar call to proclaim my faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, all because of the superb studies in the Word and discipleship.  Along came Friendship Bible Coffees; she became a guide, then coordinator.  Then there was Women’s Missions support ministry and leadership.   She was growing and then a snag came along:  divorce, so contrary to her beliefs.  However, God was faithfully with her, guiding, directing, healing, delivering, working in her, always.  Jeremiah 29:11 was her very lifeline: “for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, not to harm you but to give you hope and a future.”

Her ministry call began with what was said about Joseph, “here comes that dreamer.”

It continued with Luke 4:18-19, Jesus’ first sermon to “proclaim good news… release the oppressed… set captives free”   She took that literally.  Her call is to ministry, personal spiritual growth, inner healing and deliverance.

God has since blessed her with opportunity is so doing in the south of Mexico on missions, preaching with an interpreter, in the desert southwest in multi-cultural ministry, as pastor of a small church four years, in psychiatric chaplaincy over a decade and most recently, in deliverance ministry.   She has experienced successes and failures: divorce, fired as a woman pastor, third round of budget cuts ending the chaplaincy after more than ten years, bankruptcy of remodeling business that she I had prayed over every property before acquiring.  Through it all, there were so many wonderful experiences and

God on the scene as well:  European tour, Israel study tour, missionary trip to Mexico, multiple visits to Alaska and the Caribbean experiencing God and His glorious creation, teaching, training, providing workshops, writing, preaching, learning, being humbled, molded and being inspired.  She know God is also “still working on me” as the old Speers Family chorus goes.  It is so fulfilling partnering with God, being blessed and being a blessing, watching God go, as Toby Mac sings, “if You’ve got something to say, come on and take it away, can’t wait to watch you go-o-o!”

God is amazing!

His Word is Truth!!!

When we are so busy following God, there is no time to figure things out on our own (our greatest challenge, she was a math teacher after all, logic, symmetry, etc).   When following God, divine opportunities and appointments appear.

When we are so full of God’s plans and Word and speaking it over situations, there is no time for negativity, self or attacks of the enemy to derail us or take us down.

Remember Zechariah 2:8c “he who touches you touches the apple of God’s eye” as a coach once reminded her.    We are the apple of God’s eye, blessed and highly favored.  Get that into your belief system and subconscious.   Act it and think it right now!!!

"I have known Elaine for several years through deliverance ministry; Initially in seeking my deliverance to deal with wounds, trauma and strongholds that interfered with God’s will and calling on my life. She helped me be restored back to right Relationship with Jesus. Later, after learning how to be and stay free, I attended classes with Elaine as a student learning how to help others be free as well. Elaine is kind, compassionate and Spirit led and partners with Holy Spirit to help the person identify the areas that keep them in bondage. I walk in freedom now thanks to Elaine’s help seeking Holy Spirit in my deliverance! Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! She has been a blessing in my life and as a result, I have seen God do Incredible things once those legal strongholds were broken."

"Kay shared with us the healing that the Lord has done in her own body and I believe the Lord has gifted her with this healing for such a time as this . God has healed me from the hurts and offenses I have taken upon my self and has truly shown me how to forgive those that hurt me the most. My relationship with my father has been restored to the point where I can say I love you and truly mean it. Praise the Lord! 2 yrs ago my son went through circumstances that divided the family but God slowly is now restoring our relationship. I believe this has happened because of the deliverance of such wounds and trauma and being very intentional in keeping our heart pure and keeping the door to the enemy closed shut!! Kay has been such a gift and blessing to the body of Christ never judging , always being open to sharing your own trials and sharing in her testimonies as well as making herself available selflessly."

"Proverbs 11:14 “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 12:15 “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.” Proverbs 19:20-21 “Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days. There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.” Since I have known the privilege of working with Elaine Kay, she has been an invaluable source of counsel in my life.

She humbly worked and prayed with me as I worked each week to get sermons cohesive and understandable. She was a wonderful Biblical reference provider; often pointing out several other scriptures that supported God’s plan for each service, and she prayerfully sought God’s best for our small church. In fact, if she was here, I would have asked for her prayer and guidance in writing even this! There were times that we had different perspectives, but every time, Elaine was submitted and committed to God’s truth being the final word; and I know God appreciated that.

Every one needs someone to sharpen iron with, and Elaine did that prayerfully and respectfully. She committed a large part of her prayer life to praying for our congregation and for every aspect of ministry. The church was alive with praise music whenever Elaine was in the building. I am excited to see what God has blessed her with in her writings; and I hope that you will be rewarded with her ideas and input as I have been."
